Officers with the Grande Prairie Rural General Investigation Section and Crime Reduction Unit say on Sunday they watched a man fall out of a truck bed near the KFC Plaza.

The man kept walking after falling out of the vehicle and police went to go check on him to make sure he was alright, when officers noticed a sawed-off shotgun attached to his backpack.

Thirty-six-year-old Dionne Trahey was arrested on the scene and charged with:

  • Unsafe storage of firearm
  • Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of prohibited weapon with ammunition

Trahey was remanded into custody following a Judicial Interim Release Hearing and was in Grande Prairie court on Monday, June 2.
