Jun 4, 2025 | 10:23 AM

Throughout the month of May, Grande Prairie’s Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) and General Investigation Section (GIS) recovered a trio of stolen vehicles.

On May 6, CRU and rural GIS recovered a stolen motorcycle in an individual’s possession, which led to an arrest.

Daniel Brooks, a 29-year-old Grande Prairie resident, was arrested and had three charges laid; Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.

Brooks was released with a court date set for June 11.

On May 15, CRU officers recovered a stolen Pontiac Sunfire at a Tim Horton’s after observing it heading into a drive-thru.

Two occupants inside the vehicle were then taken into custody.

Twenty-seven-year-old Lisa Prince had possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 charge laid, while Johnathon Anderson, a 44-year-old GP resident, had two charges laid against him; Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and failure to comply with a release order.

Prince was released with a “future court date,” while Anderson was remanded and appeared in court yesterday (Monday, June 2).

Then on May 17, officers observed a Volkswagen Jetta driving recklessly and attempted a traffic stop, but it fled.

A surveillance operation was then conducted by CRU and rural GIS on the same Jetta.

That led to the stolen vehicle being recovered and the driver taken into custody, as they tried to flee police again, this time on foot, and attempted to steal another vehicle.

Dwayne Olson, a 26-year-old resident of Grande Prairie, had seven charges laid against him:

  • Dangerous Operation of a motor vehicle
  • Flight from Peace Officer
  • Operation while prohibited
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Operation while prohibited
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Mischief under $5,000

Olson will appear in court June 9 in Grande Prairie to answer all seven charges.
