Peace River Forest Area danger rating now extreme

The wildfire danger rating for the Peace River Forest Area has risen to extreme due to high temperatures and dry conditions.

Wildfires PWF050 and PWF044 are currently burning out of control near Twin Lakes and Manning respectively; PWF056, burning two kilometres west of Golden Lake was being held as of June 5

Since January 1, the Peace River Forest Area has had 57 fires that have burned 46,813 hectares.

The High Level, Slave Lake and Grande Prairie Forest Areas are also at an extreme rating.
