Special air quality statement rescinded as AHQI hits 1.0

Jun 6, 2025 | 7:37 AM

Enviroment Canada has rescinded all special air quality statements and advisories for Grande Prairie.

According to the Peace Airshed Zone Association, the danger level is now low, as we sit at a 1.0 on the Air Health Quality Index.

However, Special Air Quality statements do remain in place for Peace region communities north of Webster.

There is a chance that either a special air quality statement or advisory could be reissued, as smoke from the Kelly Lake Wildfire could work its way east.

At this time, an evacuation order and alert remain in effect for some County residents, while the wildfire danger level is now rated extreme for the Grande Prairie Forest Area.
