Kiskatinaw River Wildfire significant growth overnight expected to continue
The County of Grande Prairie says they expect today (Monday, June 9) to be another challenging one for combating the growth of the Kiskatinaw River Wildfire.
The blaze is said to have grown significantly overnight, reaching an estimated 21,675 hectares in size, however, the evacuation order, as well as the alert area, have remained the same.
Residents residing north of Township Road 700 to Highway 43, and east of the Alberta/BC border to Range Road 130 are under an evacuation order; residents north of Township Road 710 and Highway 43 to Township Road 752, and east of Range Road 130 to Range Road 124 are on alert.
At this time, wildfire crews continue structure protection work in Kelly Lake and the County of Grande Prairie, while heavy equipment is creating contingency lines north of the fire perimeter.
