City and County hosting information sessions for potential election candidates

Municipal elections will be held in Alberta on October 20.

Both the City and County of Grande Prairie have organized information sessions for potential candidates.

The fist one for the city will be held tonight (June 24) from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Community Room at the Grande Prairie Museum.

The city says this will provide an overview of what being on council involves.

A second session on August 20 will cover putting together a municipal budget.

The city asks anyone coming to register on the city’s website.

The county is hosting a similar gathering on Wednesday, June 25, from 7-9 p.m. at the TARA Centre at Evergreen Park. A second one will be held on September 3. Registration is not required for the county sessions.

The county says these get togethers will teach potential candidates the “roles, responsibilities and time commitments” for county councillors.
