Northwestern Polytechnic announces new Graphic Design Diploma Program

Jun 25, 2025 | 7:00 AM

Northwestern Polytechnic is launching a new Graphic Design Program in 2026.

The two-year diploma prepares students for creative careers in advertising, marketing, web design and more, and will leave them with a strong portfolio, industry-relevant skills and creative confidence.

Not only does this program reflect our dedication to providing innovative, in-demand, and career-focused education, but it also complements our established Computer Science, Business, and Fine Arts pathways. We recognize that the digital landscape is continuing to evolve, and NWP is doing our part by bringing disciplines together and equipping them for success. Dr. Vanessa Sheane, NWP President and CEO

NWP says they are the second post-secondary institution to have a graphic design diploma, after the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.

Graphic design plays a vital role in how we connect and communicate in today’s digital age. This program prepares students with the tools and mindset to make a creative impact and pursue diverse design careers across multiple industries. Dr. Julia Dutove, Dean of the School of Applied Science and Technology

Topics covered in the program include design theory, digital media production, typography, branding and user experience design.

The program will launch Fall 2026, interested students can begin applying October 2025.
