City of Grande Prairie celebrations on Canada Day
Canada Day festivities will get underway in Grande Prairie Tuesday, July 1.
Throughout the day, a number of free activities and amenities are planned:
- Canada Day parade in Grande Prairie’s City Centre beginning at 2 p.m.
- Free cookies (while supplies last), starting at 3:30 p.m., sponsored by Cenovus Energy.
- Live entertainment at the Amphitheatre from 3:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., featuring a full lineup, including double-platinum selling country star Aaron Goodvin.
- Beer gardens from 3:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. (free entry, drinks available for purchase).
- Carnival rides and games, sponsored by Paramount Resources Ltd.
- Kids zone with face painting and roaming entertainment, sponsored by Windsor Ford.
- Food trucks.
- Fireworks display over Muskoseepi Park Reservoir at 11:30 p.m., presented by Pomeroy Hotel and Conference Centre.
During the day, free transit will be offered from 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. There is free swimming at the Aquatera outdoor pool from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Ernie Radbourne Pavilion will also be open. All other city facilities will be closed.
