Enviroment Canada says the storms are expected to start in the Yellowhead and Swan Hills area, and could produce large hail and strong winds.

Enviroment Canada added, “if thunder roars, go indoors!”

Residents travelling should also be aware that Environment Canada says there is a risk of tornadoes in north-central Alberta, specifically in the Whitecourt, Barrhead, Edson, and Slave Lake areas.

Severe thunderstorms do have a chance to start wildfires, so if residents do see any flames as a result of lightning, contact 310-FIRE or your local Fire Department.
