Vigen tops 2025 Ponoka Stampede aggregate, narrowly misses championship crown

Jul 2, 2025 | 12:27 PM

The Ponoka Stampede wrapped up Tuesday night with Logan Gorst winning the $75,000 Tommy Dorchester Championship final heat to win the 2025 Ponoka Stampede Championship.

In the final heat alongside Gorst was Chanse Vigen, Evan Salmond, and Jamie Laboucane.

Vigen crossed the finish line first but was assessed a 1-second penalty for his wagon starting ahead of the horn, costing him the championship.

Although the early start, Vigen was able to top the aggregate for the third year in a row following five nights of racing.

He was presented on Monday with the use of a 2025 GMC Sierra Pickup Truck to use for a year, courtesy of Summit Fleet for being the aggregate winner.

Vigen was also able to capture the fastest time of the night four times during the Ponoka Stampede, and set a track record on Day 1.

The WPCA circuit moves onto the Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby starting Friday. For drivers not invited to Calgary, they will race at Teepee Creek Stampede next weekend from July 11-13.
