Jumpstart Inclusive Playground to begin construction at Lions Park

Jul 4, 2025 | 7:00 AM

Construction at Lions Park is expected to temporarily close the playground starting Friday, July 4.

The City of Grande Prairie is constructing a new Jumpstart Inclusive Playground at the park, thanks to funding from Canadian Tire’s Jumpstart Charities.

The playground is designed to remove physical and social barriers to play and will include accessible features like double-wide ramps and roller slides.

The City is thanking local Canadian Tire Dealers David Dungey and Lisa Miller for their funding support and advocacy to help secure Lions Park as the site of the playground.

We are incredibly grateful to Jumpstart for helping bring this playground to Grande Prairie. It is going to be a vibrant, joyful place where children of all abilities can come together to play, make memories and feel like they belong. This project reflects our vision of a community that values inclusion, connection and quality of life for everyone. Said Jackie Clayton, City of Grande Prairie Mayor

The current playground at Lions Park is anticipated to close Friday, with the splash park to remain open until Monday, July 7.
