The County of Grande Prairie recently presented a cheque to the Compassion House Foundation in Edmonton.

Compassion House provides safe and affordable accommodations for women in rural areas who must travel to Edmonton for cancer treatment, with a specific suite for county residents.

County Recreation and Culture Supervisor Nora-Lee Gilkyson visited the site and presented the $100,000 cheque.

This funding will then be used to support the non-profit’s operations, and will be paid out in $20,000 installments over five years.

In a release, County Council says this funding allows them to follow through on their “commitment to supporting residents during their most challenging times.”
