GPFA wildfire danger level stays at high

Jul 8, 2025 | 2:15 PM

Alberta Wildfire is asking residents in the Grande Prairie Forest Area to use caution if spending time or working outdoors.

Alberta Wildfire is urging caution, as the wildfire danger level in the GPFA remains at high, due to both recent and forecasted warm temperatures and strong winds.

In the Peace Region, there are only three current wildfires; the Kiskatinaw River blaze, which is being held, the Hamlin Creek fire, also being held, and a third, 50 km southwest of Grande Prairie.

That third blaze is listed as out of control and three hectares in size.

In the GPFA since January 1, 63 wildfires have been reported, burning a total of 5,825 hectares.
