Mayor Clayton welcomes Special Olympics Alberta Summer Games athletes

Grande Prairie’s mayor is welcoming Alberta athletes attending an event this weekend in the City.

The Swan City is hosting the 2025 Special Olympics Alberta Summer Games, bringing together various unique athletes to compete across 10 different sports.

Mayor Jackie Clayton says the event celebrates the spirit of inclusion, determination, and community.

She says the City is known for its strong volunteer spirit, and is looking forward to sharing that with the game’s participants.

Clayton is inviting residents and visitors alike to take in the action and enjoy the free to attend events, taking place across six City facilities.

The 2025 Special Olympics Alberta Summer Games run from Friday, July 11, to Sunday, July 13.
