GPES enforcing bylaw against Jake Brakes in Grande Prairie

Grande Prairie Enforcement Services is stepping up efforts to address excessive vehicle noise from engine retarder brakes.

Truck drivers that use these brakes, commonly known as “Jake Brakes” while within the City will be fined up to $250 as per Section 17 of the City’s Noise, Nuisance and Disturbances Bylaw.

GPES Managing Director Helen Napier says people deserve peace and quiet in their neighbourhoods and the noise from Jake Brakes is not acceptable.
