Pelland, Team Canada beats Thailand to close out VNL tournament

Wanham’s Quinn Pelland and her teammates had a dramatic finish to Week 3 of Volleyball Nations League on Sunday with a win over Thailand.

Playing in Arlington, Texas, Team Canada took the game to five sets to finish the tournament with a victory.

Thailand won the opening set 25-17, but the Canadians bounced back with 25-23 and 30-28 wins, before Thailand won the fourth 25-23. Canada won the tiebreaker 15-13.

Canada led in blocking points (14-7), aces (6-3), and earned more points from opponent error (24-20).

The ladies finished the tournament with a 3-9 record in 16th place, ensuring their spot to compete in the 2026 VNL.

There is only six weeks of downtime in between international action for the team before they head to the 2025 FIVB Women’s World Championships in Thailand, August 22 to September 7.
