WPCA wagons roll again, Alberta in another gold medal football game, WBL playoff schedule set

Wagons

After a long break after the Calgary Stampede, the World Professional Chuckwagon Association is ready to get going again.

The circuit resumes with the Battle of the Foothills today through Sunday in High River.

Rae Croteau Jr., Obrey Motowylo, Jamie Laboucane and Evan Salmond are the top four in the World Standings.

Rangeland Derby Champion Chase Vigen is in 11th place.

Football

Alberta will battle Ontario for gold at the U18 Female Football National Championship being played in Calgary.

Alberta advanced with a 24-7 win over Quebec in Wednesday’s semi-finals.

Ontario beat Saskatchewan 43-26 in the other semi.

The gold medal game will kick off at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Kirklynn Unger and Isabelle McFaul and Kirklynn Unger of Sexsmith are both on the Alberta team.

Baseball

The Wheatbelt Baseball League final will start Monday with Peace River in Rycroft.

The Stampeders will host Game 2 on August 6 with Game 3 back in Rycroft August 11.

Games 4 and 5, if needed, would be played August 13 in Peace River and August 15 in Rycroft, respectively.

All games start at 7:15 p.m.
