Race the 8, barrel racing fund raiser, horse racing and rugby this weekend

Race the 8

Rycroft Race the 8 goes Friday through Sunday.

All Pro Wagons & Chariots start at 7:00 p.m. Friday.

Saturday’s schedule includes team roping at 10:00 a.m., calf scramble at 1:45, wild pony races at 2:00 p.m. wagons at 3:00 p.m. and bull riding at 7:00 p.m.

Sunday’s events include bareback and saddle bronc riding at 10:30 a.m., mutton bustin’ and wild pony races at 1:15 p.m., wagons and chariots at 2:30 and team roping at 4:00 p.m.

Barrel racing fund raiser

The 5th annual Stollery Fundraiser Jackpot will take place Saturday and Sunday at the Tire Pro Events Centre in Teepee Creek.

Registration starts at 8:00 a.m. both days with racing starting at 10:00 a.m. Racers get two runs, with the best time of the two counting.

Sixty per cent of all entry fees will be donated to the Stollery Children’s Hospital.

Horse racing

Horse racing continues Saturday and Sunday at Evergreen Park. Post time will be 1:15 p.m. both days.

Sunday will include Baconfest, a fund raiser for the County of Grande Prairie Firefighter’s Benevolent Fund.

Rugby

The Grande Prairie Sirens and Centaurs rugby teams are in Edson on Saturday to play the Parkland Sharks.
