Citizen Initiative Petition issued

A group organized by a former deputy premier can now start gathering signatures on a petition to have Alberta declare its official policy is to remain in Canada.

The province’s chief electoral officer has issued the petition for the “Alberta Forever Canada” citizen initiative.

Launched by Thomas Lukaszuk, the petition is for a policy proposal asking if people agree that Alberta should remain in Canada.

Canvassers have three months to gather nearly 294-thousand signatures.
