A Grande Prairie swimmer has climbed onto the podium at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore.

Oliver Dawson swam the breaststroke leg for Canada’s bronze medal-winning team in the Mixed 4 x 100 metre Medley Relay.

Dawson’s teammates included Taylor Ruck, Josh Liendo and Kylie Masse, all of whom are previous medalists in various events at the world championships and Olympics.

Swimmers from Russia competing as the Neutral Athletes B team won the gold medal with China taking silver.

This is Canada’s fifth medal at the championships. Canada now has two gold and two bronze in swimming and a silver in high diving.

Dawson will be back in the pool Wednesday night (July 30) in the heats of the 200 metre breaststroke.
