Aug 1, 2025 | 1:21 PM

The City of Grande Prairie, alongside the Grande Prairie Local Immigration Council, are providing a new resource to support newcomers.

The Passport to Grande Prairie is now being rolled out to serve as “a one-stop, user-friendly guide to help newcomers settle into the community by providing accessible information about local services and resources.”

The booklets can be picked up at a number of locations around the City, or printed off online:

  • Grande Prairie Centre for Newcomers
  • Grande Prairie Council for Lifelong Learning
  • Grande Prairie Public Library
  • Grande Prairie Family Education Society
  • Grande Prairie Public Health Centre
  • Eastlink Centre
  • Grande Prairie Museum & Heritage Village
  • Association canadienne-française de l’Alberta régionale de Grande Prairie
  • Cedar Point

Designed as a way to help newcomers familiarize themselves with the City, Mayor Jackie Clayton called the booklet a “creative and practical tool that helps new residents connect to the services, places and people that help build a connected and welcoming city.”

Part of the passport is an interactive element that encourages users to visit various locations and collect stamps; Once five stamps are collected, users can visit Cedar Point, fill out a short survey and collect their prize.

The nine locations where residents can collect stamps are:

  • Grande Prairie Centre for Newcomers
  • Grande Prairie Council for Lifelong Learning
  • Grande Prairie Public Library
  • Grande Prairie Family Education Society
  • Grande Prairie Public Health Centre
  • Eastlink Centre
  • Grande Prairie Museum & Heritage Village
  • ACFA Regional de Grande Prairie
  • City of Grande Prairie’s Cedar Point Office
