Severe thunderstorm watches in place for several areas of the Peace

A severe thunderstorm watch is in place for a wide swath of the Peace Country.

That includes the City and County of Grande Prairie, along with Birch Hills, Saddle Hills, Clear Hills, Big Lakes, Northern Sunrise and Mackenzie Counties, the MDs of Fairview, Peace, Spirit River, Smoky River and most of The MD of Greenview except for the Fox Creek area.

There is also a thunderstorm watch in place for the B.C. Peace, the Willmore Wilderness Park and parts of Yellowhead County, including the Hinton area and William A. Switzer Provincial Park.

Environment Canada says conditions are right for the development of storms that bring hail and heavy rain.
