Two arrested in High Level for drugs and loaded firearm

The Alberta RCMP’s Community Response Team, with assistance from the High Level RCMP have seized a loaded firearm, cocaine, and Canadian currency following a traffic stop last month.

On July 31, 2025, Mounties arrested 41-year-old High Level resident Jennifer Gervais and 31-year-old High Level resident Cheri Metchooyeah on Highway 58.

Prior to their arrest, police executed a search warrant on a residence in that community.

As a result of the investigation and subsequent search warrant, police located and seized:

  • 167 grams of cocaine
  • 352 grams of cannabis
  • A loaded 9mm handgun
  • 2 Rolex watches
  • 3 cartons of unstamped tobacco
  • Cellphones
  • $6,110 Canadian currency

Gervais and Metchooyeah have been jointly charged with:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine
  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime
  • Possession of a Firearm knowing that the serial number had been altered
  • Possession of a Prohibited Weapon while being Prohibited
  • Possession of a Firearm in a motor vehicle

Both were remanded into custody and are to appear in the Chateh Court of Justice on August 6, 2025.
