Grande Prairie Forest Area update

Fire watchers in the Grande Prairie Forest Area say crews were able to quickly respond to four new fires that started over the Heritage Day long weekend.

They credit reports from both the public and people working in the lookout towers.

Crews are working on a new fire located 46 kilometres south of Grande Prairie and 11 kilometres west of Highway 40.

The three hectare fire is not a threat to any infrastructure or communities.

The wildfire danger rating in the Grande Prairie Forest Area remains high.
