Peace Country Beef & Forage Association included in provincial funding announcement

Aug 7, 2025 | 4:57 PM

The Peace Country Beef & Forage Association is among the grant recipients this year under the province’s Rangeland Sustainability Program.

The province says there is a total of $1.3 million going to seven recipients. The projects being funded “support education and community outreach, adaptive grazing practices, conservation strategies, grassland bird conservation and bee biodiversity surveys,” says a release from the province.

Beef & Forage Association executive director Lisa Jeffrey will look at “integrated management of trees, forages and livestock in silvopastoral systems.”

“These systems have the potential to provide improvements in multiple areas, including soil fertility and conservation, wildlife habitat, forage quality, animal production, income diversity and greenhouse gas mitigation,” says Jeffrey in that same release from the province.

The other grant recipients include the Alberta Native Bee Council, the Western Stock Growers Association and two researchers from the University of Alberta.
