B.C. man asleep behind the wheel found with drugs & flamethrower

Grande Prairie Rural RCMP have a suspect in custody and seized suspected illegal drugs, after a tip from the public on Saturday morning.

Mounties received a call at 7:41 a.m. on Aug. 9 regarding a male driver “slumped over the wheel in the middle of the road.”

When police arrived, they noted that the driver was “heavily asleep” with drug paraphernalia in plain view, which resulted in a search.

During the search, Mounties found a backpack sporting the slogan, “support your local drug dealer” along with other prohibited items:

  • $2,080 in Canadian currency
  • 99 grams of suspected methamphetamine
  • 19 grams of suspected fentanyl
  • Drug trafficking paraphernalia;
  • A loaded crossbow
  • A flame thrower
  • A prohibited knife

Forty-year-old Fraser Pearson of Dawson Creek, B.C. was arrested and had eight charges laid against him:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking Fentanyl
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking Methamphetamine
  • Two counts of failing to comply with probation order
  • Two counts of weapon possession contrary to order
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Pearson was remanded into custody with a court date set for Monday, Aug. 11.
