County of Grande Prairie Council highlights

County of Grande Prairie Council held its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, August 11.

As part of the highlights, a five-year financial plan for the Clairmont Municipal Police Service was approved in principle.

This plan will be in effect from April 1, 2025, until March 31, 2031 and “formalizes the agreement for municipal policing.”

During the meeting, funding was also approved for three applicants through the Rural Recruitment Incentive program:

  • Dr. Candance Khun – $10,000 to support their full-time medical practice in Beaverlodge.
  • Dr. Erema Aimola – $5,000 to support their full-time equivalent position at the IDOF Medical Centre.
  • Dr. Marlize Hipwell – $5,000 to support their 0.7 full-time equivalent position at the Family Medical Associates Clinic and emergency and community obstetrics.

Other highlights from the meeting included council approving $90,000 to fix sidewalks in Hythe and $100,000 in Capital Grant funding to be used for the Peace Area Motor Sports Association’s paving project.

County Council’s next regular meeting is set for Monday, August 25.
