Province announces funding for road, bridge and water projects, including 14 in the Peace Country

A long list of projects in the Peace have been given funding under several programs from the provincial government

There is $114.6 million going into 86 projects under the Strategic Transportation Infrastructure Program (STIP), the Alberta Municipal Water/Wastewater and Water for Life programs.

Out of that total, a little over $17.6 million has been distributed to 14 projects in the Peace.

Saddle Hills County will get $12,787,395.54 for Phase 3 of its Raw Water Storage and Supply project under Water for Life. The total cost for this idea is just over $26 million.

Saddle Hills County is getting two grants under STIP, one for $368,250, the other for $378,150. Both are for culvert replacements.

Other culvert replacement grants include the County of Grande Prairie getting $397,500 and Northern Sunrise County getting $375,000.

The MD of Smoky River is also getting two culvert replacement grants, one worth $312,000, the other $351,000.

The County of Grande Prairie will also get $855,000 for a bridge replacement. There is also $867,000 for Mackenzie County for replacing a bridge.

There is $763,000 for Northern Sunrise County for resource road work.

The grants being awarded in this area under the water and wastewater program include $1,359,375 to the Paddle Prairie Metis Settlement for upgrades to its water treatment plant.

There is also $203,250 to Girouxville for work on the community’s wastewater treatment facility, $56,250 to McLennan for a study at the water treatment plant, and $198,000 to Mackenzie County for upgrades to a raw water reservoir.
