More renovations completed at Grande Prairie Legion branch

More renovations have been completed at the Royal Canadian Legion branch in Grande Prairie,

Legion manager Jamie Blois says the biggest job was upgrading the women’s washrooms.

Blois says in the last four years, the kitchen, bar and men’s bathrooms have all been redone.

She adds says people coming in have been impressed.

Blois also says the community has helped with the financing.

“We did actually have a grant from the Rotary clubs that did help with part of the cost, and we also received a small grant from the County of Grande Prairie as well.”

Blois says one thing that remains is the artifacts.

“We have our wall of veterans here, different veterans that were lost that were local.”

“We have our original charter and the Ladies Auxiliary charter and our plaques for all our previous presidents and Legion life members and Legionnaires of the Year and our original British Empire Service League flags.”

The Legion has been open again for almost two weeks after this latest round of renovations.
