Cowboys bench boss wins Coach of the Year award

Peace Country Cowboys head coach Brannon Edgar is the Alberta Football League (AFL) Coach of the Year.

A post on the Cowboys social media page says Edgar led the team to its best-ever finish in his first year as coach.

The team recorded its first playoff win, advanced to the championship game for the first time and had 11 players make the all-star team.

The Cowboys also led the league in turnovers and in sacks both for and against.

The Cowboys will play the Calgary Gators Saturday in Airdrie for the AFL title.

Kick-off will be at 5 p.m.
