Federal grant awarded to launch Work Northwest Alberta

The federal government says its is investing in locally led initiatives across the prairies that support economic reconciliation while enabling rural prosperity.

PrairiesCan has awarded the County of Grande Prairie and the Grande Prairie Chamber of Commerce $689,000 to launch Work Northwest Alberta. This initiative is a collaborative partnership between the two entities that uses a regional approach to attract, retain, and develop a skilled workforce.

This is one of seven projects in Alberta that are splitting $5.9 million federal dollars, announced by Minister of Emergency Management and Community Resilience and Minister responsible for Prairies Economic Development Canada Eleanor Olszewski.

“From arts and cultural venues to agribusinesses and tourism, rural and Indigenous communities across the Prairies are home to a multitude of businesses and initiatives that fuel Canada’s economy and advance economic reconciliation,” says The Honourable Eleanor Olszewski. “Our new government’s investments will help address the unique needs and opportunities of local communities to realize their vision for long-term economic development.”
