Fables and Faeries Renaissance Faire at GPPL this Sunday

Aug 22, 2025 | 11:19 AM

A community-wide celebration of creativity, imagination, and medieval-inspired fun will be happening this weekend at the Grande Prairie Public Library (GPPL).

The family-friendly Fables and Faeries Renaissance Faire will be taking place inside and around the GPPL this Sunday, Aug. 24.

There will be a costume contest starting at 11:30 a.m. and is open to all ages, with attendees in their finest medieval or fantasy-inspired attire. Prizes will be awarded to the top three costumes overall.

Visitors to the event can also take in live sword fighting demonstrations, hobby horse jousts, and participate in a building-wide Kingdom Quest Scavenger Hunt.

A market will be held in the Teresa Sargent Hall and keepsakes will be available for purchase through local vendors.

A pet adoption event will also be on-site, hosted by Bandaged Paws, giving the opportunity to meet and adopt dogs from their rescue program.

Food trucks will have food available through Cool Cat Grilled Cheese and Rollin’ Dough Cookies along the Mamawe concourse.

People are also encouraged to explore the Crafters’ Croft in the Rotary Community Room to enjoy story time sessions in the Storytellers’ Shire in the Linda Smith Story Room.

The Fables and Faeries Renaissance Faire will go from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
