Storm intersquad game, high school football, rugby and horse racing on this weekend

Storm

The Storm’s annual Brian Nash Intersquad Game will be played Sunday. Face-off at 5 p.m. at the Bonnetts Energy Centre.

Money raised goes to the Brian Nash Memorial Scholarship Fund.

The exhibition season opens at home against Drayton Valley Aug. 26 and 27.

The Storm will also visit the Thunder Sept. 7, then take on Fort McMurray in two exhibition games in Slave Lake Sept. 12 and 13.

The Storm will open the regular season at home Sept. 19 versus Whitecourt.

High School Football

The St. Joe’s Celtics football team will host Edmonton’s Bev Facey Falcons in an exhibition game Saturday.

Kick-off time will be 2 p.m. at CKC Field.

The Mighty Peace Football League regular season starts Aug. 28 when the Grande Prairie Phoenix meet Sexsmith.

Kick-off time will be 6 p.m. also at CKC Field

Rugby

The Grande Prairie Sirens women’s rugby team will play the Lep Tigers from Edmonton in the Jo Reinbold Cup Saturday in St. Albert.

Game time will be 5 p.m.

The Centaurs men’s team will play St. Albert in Edson on Saturday. That game starts at 2 p.m.

Horse Racing

This is the final weekend of horse racing at Evergreen Park.

Post time will be at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. There are seven races planned for each day

Sunday will be Mr. Mike’s Paint the Park Purple day. The annual Race For The Cure will be Race 4 on Sunday.

The day is meant to create awareness of pancreatic cancer.
