Alberta invests $11.2 million to boost 2025 community programs

The Alberta Government invested over $11 million in grants to support community programs and events in 2025.

As of August 22, the Province has supported 305 projects, with $6.5 million for 100 Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP) projects, $2.7 million for 160 Community Initiatives Program (CIP) project grant, and $2 million for 45 CIP operating grants.

Locally, ten projects in the Peace Region have received funding from these programs:

Community Facility Enhancement Program

  • Royal Canadian Legion-Grande Prairie Branch No. 54 – $125,000
  • Upgrade (GP Legion Modernization)
  • Friedenstal Historical Society – $103,195
  • Construct (Inclusive Community Playground)
  • Fairview Day Care & Playschool Society – $73,666
  • Upgrade (Facility Upgrade)
  • EE Oliver Parents’ Council Society – $66,041
  • Expand (Playground redevelopment)

Community Initiatives Program Operating projects

  • Society for Support to Pregnant and Parenting Teens – $46,000
  • Advertising, marketing, communication expenses, administrative costs, auditing, data collection, evaluation, insurance, minor equipment purchases, (must be less than $5,000), office supplies, program supplies, reporting, rent, staff training, staff wages and salaries, travel, volunteer training
