Fire Advisory returns to Grande Prairie Forest Areas as danger rating reaches very high

Aug 27, 2025 | 4:19 PM

The Grande Prairie Forest Area Wildfire rating is now very high due to hot temperatures and dry conditions.

A fire advisory is now back in place for the Grande Prairie Forest Area.

Under the advisory, any burning without a valid fire permit other than campfires is prohibited, and new permits will be issued on a case-by-case basis.

Of the five fires currently burning in the Grande Prairie Forest area, four are listed as under control, while the Kiskatinaw River Wildfire is listed as being held.

Alberta Wildfire is warning local farmers that farming activities can cause wildfires, and they can take extra precautions by keeping their machinery clean and maintaining their electrical components and equipment.
