Warm weather brings harvest 2025 back up to speed
Cool temperatures and rainfall started the harvest season slower, but with the heatwave; producers are getting widespread operations going again.
The Alberta Crop Report dated August 26, says it is the busiest time of year in the fields, with harvest of fall-seeded crops nearly complete across the province, half of the spring-seeded pulses off, harvest of spring-seeded cereals beginning on earlier seeded fields and canola is starting to get swathed.
Provincial harvest progress was at 11 per cent complete at the time the report was compiled, which is 4 per cent behind the five-year average. The report did say that with weather taking a turn to warmer, drier days; taking crops off would progress rapidly.
