Week 1 high school football rankings

Sep 2, 2025 | 1:01 PM

The first Alberta High School Football rankings were released on Labour Day Monday, Sept. 1.

In the 4A division(School pop. 800-1399), St. Joe’s is second in the rankings, after a 25-19 win over Austin O’Brien; they will now face Edmonton’s Harry Ainly this week, who are ranked first in the 5A division (School pop. 1,400+).

In the 3A rankings (School pop. 200-799), the Sexsmith Sabres took the 9th spot after a 14-0 loss against the Comp. last week.

The Sabres did forfeit that game due to the extreme heat and a short bench; they are currently still looking for players, and anyone interested can talk with a teacher or administration.

Peace River was awarded the top spot in the nine-a-side rankings.

That season will kick off this week as Edmonton’s Millwoods Christian faces off with Whitecourt’s Carston Cougars; however, Peace Reaver does have a bye.
