Mobile mammography units at Sturgeon Lake and Valleyview this month

Sep 3, 2025 | 1:33 PM

Primary Care Alberta says that their Screen Test program will be in local Peace Region communities in September so women can easily access mammograms without leaving their area.

A mobile mammography trailer will be set-up at the following locations:

  • Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation Health Centre parking lot
    • September 5 and 8
  • Valleyview Health Centre (43 East Highway Street)
    • September 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13

Eligible individuals between the ages of 45 and 74 will be able to access this healthcare service at no cost to them, but appointments need to be made in advance. You can call 1-800-667-0604 to book an appointment and learn more about the program.

According to health officials, mammograms are x-rays of the breast tissue, and are the best way to detect breast cancer early when treatment may work better.
