Peace Region Air Quality Warning rescinded

Sep 4, 2025 | 3:31 PM

The air quality warning in effect for much of the Peace Region has been downgraded to a special air quality statement.

According to Environment Canada smoke is still causing poor air quality and reduced visibilty in parts of the region, but is less excessive then earlier in the week.

They also suggest those “more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.”

Currently 150 wildfires continue to burn in NWT, so residents should be prepared for shifting air quality conditions.
