Grande Prairie RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) took a group into custody who had fled from RCMP the day before.

On Wednesday, Sept. 3, Mounties attempted a stop on a pick-up truck, but it fled from police.

The next day, Thursday, Sept. 4, CRU located the truck and pulled it over; during their stop, officers “noted controlled substances in plain sight.”

A number of illegal items were seized:

  • 170 grams of methamphetamines
  • 75 grams of cocaine
  • 104 grams of fentanyl
  • Drug trafficking paraphernalia
  • Bear mace
  • Brass knuckles
  • Canadian Currency

Three suspects: 42-year-old Trevor Unrau, of no fixed address, 32-year-old Aiden Laliberté and 28-year-old Sergion Calona Nunez, both residents of Grande Prairie, each had five charges laid:

  • Three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of proceeds of crime
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

All three were remanded into custody with court dates set for later this month.
