Heavy police presence in Driftpile lifted, two suspects in custody

UPDATE:

The heavy police presence in effect for Driftpile has now ended.

Mounties say one of the three suspects is still at large; however, they don’t believe they are in the area.

At this time, RCMP are thanking the public for their cooperation.

High Prairie RCMP currently have a large presence in the area of Highway 2 and Driftpile Beach, as they search for armed robbery suspects.

According to RCMP, an armed robbery took place earlier today (Wednesday, Sept. 10) in Grouard, and the three suspects fled in a vehicle towards Driftpile.

The three suspects, reportedly two men and a woman, then exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

The public is now asked to avoid the area; however, those who live in Driftpile, or near Driftpile beach, are asked to lock their doors and not let in anyone they do not know.
