The City of Dawson creek is entering Stage 3 Water Conservation Measures Thursday, September 11.
Council directed staff to move to these measures during their meeting Sept. 8, while the Kiskatinaw River, the city’s current water source continues a three-year drought.
Under the conservation measures, Dawson Creek residents must not water any flower gardens, planters or shrubs, only water their lawn during their pre-determined time frame, and only use a hose with an automatic shutoff while washing sidewalks, drives, walls and roofs.
The City of Dawson Creek currently has upwards of 150 days of water stored from the Kiskatinaw River, and is reducing overall consumption to make it through the winter months without emergency support from the province of BC.
