Unsuccessful vehicle theft leads to RCMP investigation

Sep 11, 2025 | 6:00 AM

Peace Regional RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance after a pair of men were caught on video attempting to steal a vehicle on Sunday, Sept. 7.

At 8 a.m. on Sunday, RCMP responded to a report of two men trying to seal a vehicle from a driveway near 99 Street in Peace River.

Minutes before police arrived, home surveillance revealed the two suspects smashed a window to gain access to the car, but were unsuccessful in getting it started and fled.

Mounties then alerted the homeowner.

Later in the day, the same men returned and attempted to boost the vehicle with a battery; after one unsuccessful attempt, they fled again.

An investigation is now ongoing, and anyone with information of this attempted theft is asked to contact Peace Regional RCMP at 780-624-6611 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8377 (TIPS).

A description of both suspects was provided by RCMP:

Male one:

  • Medium to light complexion
  • Wearing a ballcap, bright green long sleeve shirt, black joggers and white and black shoes

Male two:

  • Medium to light complexion
  • Wearing a backwards ballcap, light grey hoodie, white pants and tan boots

Peace Regional RCMP would also like to use this incident to remind residents to “be vigilant with leaving your vehicles locked, and to remove all valuables and identifiers from your vehicles unless necessary.”
