Second class of Grande Prairie Police Service recruits graduates

The Grande Prairie Police Service’s second class of new recruits has graduated.

The 14 officers were honored at a ceremony at Teresa Sargent Hall Friday, September 12, with local dignitaries and friends and family in attendance.

GPPS Chief Dwayne Lakusta says the service is on track to fully assume jurisdiction over Grande Prairie in late 2026, two years sooner then expected.

He is praising their selection process for picking 14 new qualified individuals to join their ranks.

The Grande Prairie Police Service’s third new recruit class is set to begin their training later this month.
