Special air quality statement in effect

A special air quality statement has been issued for the Peace Region by Enviroment Canada.

Currently, the air quality health index has Grande Prairie rated at 6.0, sitting at moderate.

Limited visibility and health risks are expected due to the smoke; residents are advised to limit their time outdoors.

Conditions are expected to improve by this evening.

Currently, the wildfire hazard is very high in the Grande Prairie Forest Area.
