Teenager charged after man assaulted in Grande Cache

Sep 12, 2025 | 1:43 PM

Grande Cache RCMP say a 17-year-old youth has been charged after a man told police he was assaulted by a group of up to four people.

Police say it happened just after 3 a.m. on September 6 near the Grande Cache Community High School.

The man was taken to hospital with what Mounties describe as non-life threatening injuries. He was able to identify one of the suspects.

The 17-year-old is facing charges of aggravated assault and theft under $5000 and has a tentative court date set for Nov. 20, 2025.

RCMP are asking anyone who may have footage from that area on Sept. 6 between 2:30 and 3:30 a.m., or can otherwise help in their investigation, to contact the Grande Cache detachment or Crime Stoppers.

The Grande Cache RCMP can be reached at 780-827-2222.

Crime Stoppers can be reached at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at www.P3Tips.com or by using the “P3 Tips” app available through the Apple App or Google Play store.

“These types of crime against members of our community are unacceptable. We hope that anyone who has information regarding this incident will come forth and help with the investigation or that those responsible will turn themselves in,” says Grande Cache detachment commander Sgt. Nicole Viergutz, in a release from the RCMP.
