Update 25: Alberta wildfire update

Warm weather is keeping wildfire risk active, and Albertans are urged to stay alert and use extra caution during outdoor activities.
Current situation (as of 3 p.m., Sept. 12)
- There are 45 wildfires currently burning across Alberta in the Forest Protection Area, and one mutual aid fire.
- Five are classified as out of control, eight are being held and 32 are under control.
- There have been seven new wildfires since yesterday.
- Since Jan. 1, there have been 1,115 wildfires in the Forest Protection Area, burning more than 674,000 hectares.
- Nearly 1,300 Alberta firefighters, contract firefighters and imported firefighters are currently battling wildfires across the province.
- Resources currently being used include heavy equipment, air tankers, helicopters and night vision helicopters.
- Alberta had deployed two Wildland Urban Interface Structural Protection Teams from Slave Lake and High Level to Fort Providence and Fort Simpson in the Northwest Territories to support wildfire response efforts. One team remains deployed and the other has returned to Alberta; however, the structural protection equipment deployed remains in place.
