Bryan Petryshyn is one of the candidates running to be the mayor of Grande Prairie.

1) What has inspired you to run for mayor in the Oct. 20, 2025, municipal election?

I’ve been in Grande Prairie since October 2005. I’ve seen taxes climb. I’ve seen roads that haven’t been touched for maintenance in 20 years. Or roads that don’t get plowed regularly in the winter. I’ve seen very poor financial choices from the Mayor & Council. The residents of Grande Prairie need high value for their tax dollar.

2) What skills or experience do you have that you feel would make you a good fit for the role?

Common sense is a great skill to have. I have a carpentry & mechanical background. My family is mostly farmers/oilfield haulers. We learned as children if you needed something repaired or completed, you had to learn & repair it yourself. Smart financial choices in life & achieving high value for my dollar has driven myself in the right direction so far.

3) What do you feel are the key or main election issues in your community and what are the issues of priority for you?

I feel that personal property tax rates are a concern for home owners. Road maintenance & winter clearing is a main issue. Capital projects that are a continual tax burden are an issue.

4) Where can people learn more about you?
