Peace Regional RCMP say a man wanted on several warrants has been arrested after running from police and trying hide in the river.

Police say they spotted a wanted man while on patrol on September 17.

The man ran away from police and a foot chase ensued. The man ran through some woods before jumping into the river, eventually getting stranded against a drift pile and a bridge pillar.

The Peace River Fire Department brought a boat out and took police to where the suspect was trying to hide in the water. He was eventually convinced to surrender.

Jeremy Lori Mithcell, a 39 year old from Peace River, is due in court Monday.
