Jun Bibangco is one of over 20 residents running for a City Council position.

He was asked to answer the following four questions with a 600-word limit.

1. What has inspired you to run for mayor/council/school trustee in the Oct. 20, 2025, municipal election?

My name is Jun Bibangco, and I’m running for city council because I believe in a Grande Prairie BUILT on ACTION, ACCOUNTABILITY, and opportunity for ALL.

I want to work with the Council to build Trust, mutual support, shared values and create a cooperative environment in our community despite our many differences.

Having built my businesses and raised my family right here. I know the challenges we face and the incredible potential that lies within our community. I’m not a career politician, I’m a problem-solver with a lifetime of diverse, hands-on experience that I want to put to work for you.

2. What skills or experience do you have that you feel would make you a good fit for the role?

A local business owner: I create local jobs and understand our economy from the ground up. I know what it takes to manage a budget responsibly and plan for sustainable growth because I do it every single day.

A Proven Community leader: As an advisor for the GP Filipino Ilonggo group and a former Director of Grande Prairie Public School Foundation, I have a track record of listening, serving, and getting results for our community. New project: Multicultural Heritage Society of Grande Prairie. Previously and presently leadership experience: CEO (Chief Executive Officer), President, Board of Directors, International Director, Consultant, Warehouse Supervisor, Instructor/Skills Trainer, Chaplain. Youth Leader, Youth Counselor and Advisors.

A Resilient Representative: from my first days in Canada to my leadership roles with UN (United Nation) affiliated programs, I’ve learned how to overcome complex challenges and empower people. I will bring that same determination and work ethic to City Hall for you.

My Intention is to CHANGE. I believe that it’s time for a change, and to reach out to every community to ensure that we become more effective and work alongside a positive vision that connects with other groups that share the same vision.

My Commitment to You: My vision is for a City Council that listens more than it talks. A Council that is Accountable to you, Supports our local businesses.

3. What do you feel are the key or main election issues in your community, and what are the issues of priority for you?

Create a program to help the homeless community so that they can be more effective and prosperous in their lives, and ensures Grande Prairie is a place where families can thrive.
